I was fortunate enough this week to see a few very nice cars even though I didn't travel around very much! Early in the week, the parking lot at work featured a sinister black on black Mustang GT (2014 model, which I prefer to the newly released 2015 model year) and a sexy gold/champagne coloured Audi A7.
Later in the week, I was running errands and saw a dark cream Bentley Mulsanne near a Walmart. Slight juxtaposition there :P :D
On the weekend, I saw a dark blue first generation Maserati Quattroporte while leaving town. On the highways I saw two different gorgeous vintage 60's Mustangs, a grey Jaguar F-Type (coupe), a BMW 6 series Cabriolet (which I didn't like that much - the design is too heavy in the face and not rounded out well in the smaller looking rear) and then a dark grey M6 coupe that looked awesome (it's amazing what a body kit and flared fenders can do for a car's looks :).
Happy sightings this upcoming week!!!!!!
I have a flair for seeing cars and being reminded of what they look like and resemble - and now I'm sharing my thoughts with you!

Weekly Sightings! October 12-19
So the weekend is coming to a close here and just a quick post on the exotic and/or exciting car sightings I had this past week. For the work week, no special sightings or any exotica to report on, unfortunately :/
Yesterday, however, I drove to Kitchener to see some friends and I saw a gorgeous red Ferrari F430 on the major highway going in the opposite direction. And in town, I was lucky enough to spot a silver Audi R8 and then a second R8 - this time a white one roadster. The roadster was parked at the hospital in town, and my friend who was in my car with me commented "I bet it belongs to a doctor there". She was probably right I think!
Until next week, this has been your Weekly Sightings on TTLL :)

2015 Hyundai Sonata vs. Subaru Legacy
Alrighty then!! Here is my very first comparison post about two vehicles that I think look similar to one another. Newly redesigned for 2015 are the Hyundai Sonata and the Subara Legacy.
Hyundai in red.
Subaru in blue.
One could argue the the similarities between the above two cars are superficial, or that they aren't as similar as I'm suggesting. However, both of these cars had their own unique styles and design elements that were more disparate in the 2014 iterations than the ones you see above.
Now, we see large rectangular or trapezoidal headlights at the corners of the bodywork on each car, as well as similarly style lower fascias (including fog light surrounds) and very similar looking grilles. Neither of these cars carries the sexy good looks of exotic cars from Italy, but it is odd and somewhat disappointing to see two models that have great individual recognition and that were more unique looking in their guises from last year lose their individualism through their redesigns. Neither of these cars was so extreme looking in the 2014 edition to warrant a 'milder' styling refresh. If anything, the unique look of each was probably a better selling point than the somewhat boring and bland styling we see now, especially as it relates to Subaru.
Hopefully we will see more interesting and varied designs in the mid-size sedan segment from all the automakers for 2016!!
Many thanks to the Wikimedia Commons for sourcing those two photos :)

Junk in the Trunk...
Presented without comment :P Just so that you understand how much I love cars! :D
And here is a beautiful silver Audi S5 from the Canadian International Auto Show I believe 3 years ago. Audi's design team has done a great job of creating beautiful, elegant designs in their latest cars for a number of years ago and they are certainly setting the design benchmark against their competition!
(Yes, that handsome devil in those pics is me ;) :P)
I Look in the Mirror...
So, this post is being used as a bit of a test post.
I just wanted to share an element of what I consider good design. The below is a picture of a side mirror from a Lamborghini Gallardo. Beautifully finished in carbon fibre and very angular in design, as befits the triangular/hexagonal or wedge-shaped car overall. This photo is from the Marques d'Elegance car show held in Burlington, ON in Summer 2014. :)

For reference, here is the rear of another Gallardo from an earlier autoshow, to give you a general sense of the shapes and design themes used on this car.
First Share: A Paper Voice
The inspiration and encouragement for me to start blogging on my love for cars comes from my interaction and discussion with my friends. One of our favourite things to do every year is to attend the big Autoshow here in Ontario, and this summer, we attended a local car show for charity in Burlington for the first time.
So it comes as no surprise that my first share and follow for this blog comes from my first friend Tilly. Her own blog has been up and running since 2011 so she certainly has a leg up on me :) Tilly is a writer, among other things, and her blog A Paper Voice recounts her thoughts about a number of topics. In her own words, her goal for the blog was for it to be "interesting, thought provoking, intellectually stimulating, and perhaps able to garner a laugh or two." This is one to follow, link below:

It Begins!
Welcome to my very first post on my own Blog: That Totally Looks Like!
Anyone who knows me is aware of my deep love and passion for cars; specifically the design, the look of cars. If you have spent any time with me at all, you know that I will constantly be turning my head around scouting out cool looking cars to gawk at.
One of my talents is the ability to see a car and determine what it looks like - whether it resembles an inanimate object or looks like a cross between 5 other cars that came before it. And now it is time for me to share that gift (don't laugh) with the world!!
I intend to cover the latest news and rumours in the car world coming up, offer some long distance coverage of all the greatest auto shows, and give you a weekly update on sightings of the latest cool cars and exotica that I happen to run across in my personal life. In short: news, car design reviews and a side of humour!
